Garlic
Garlic is a wonder drug for the heart. In fact, it is beneficial for the entire cardiovascular system. Garlic has been known to lower blood pressure, prevent the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, and may prevent the liver from producing excess fat and cholesterol.
The pharmaceutical mechanism of garlic’s effect on blood pressure is believed to be related to its effect on the autonomic nervous system, lipid-lowering properties and perhaps its high content of sulfur-containing compounds. Patients with high blood pressure were found to have decreased levels of sulfur-containing amino acids in their plasma.
